David Morrissey gets to the heart of The Walking Dead's Governor. Director Jon M. Chu gives the latest on G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Masters of the Universe. Plus hints for the Amazing Spider-Man sequel from Marc Webb and Martin Sheen!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2
On the commentary track for The Amazing Spider-Man, director Marc Webb says the origins of those spiders that bit Peter and gave him his powers will be explored further in the sequel. Martin Sheen also says he wants to return as Uncle Ben in the sequel, even going so far as to suggest that his death — which is, you know, probably the most iconic comic book death of them all, give or take a Thomas and Martha Wayne — could be revealed as just a dream sequence or something. While Webb seemed to take that suggestion as not entirely serious, he did say he was open to Sheen returning in flashbacks. [Comic Book]
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
A new report suggests Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay is the new frontrunner to play the female lead — probably Sharon Carter, but that's not for certain — in the Captain America sequel. However, the report doesn't mention at all Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who has recently emerged as the rumored frontrunner, and the article mostly seems to just exist to mention that Downton Abbey is popular in the United States, and that might help her get the role. So, yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about this one either way. [The Express]
Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek Magazine has a roundup of the latest cast and crew interviews. Here's one highlight, in which co-writer Alex Kurtzman explains why this sequel will depict the characters in a different way than the original TV show:
"The assumption that we did they we did not want to make was that just because Kirk's in the chair, and they're on the Bridge together, that they're the crew that you remember from the original series. They're not. The crew from the original series had gone on many, many journeys, they were a well-oiled machine in terms of how they function, and these characters are still figuring out who they are, and who they are to each other."
And here's a pair of quotes from Kurtzman and star Chris Pine on what Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch brings to the film as the still unidentified villain:
Pine: Vocally, (Cumberbatch) is fascinating. He has this resonant voice. He's got a fascinating face. He's a lovely guy and super smart.
Kurtzman: He's (Cumberbatch) is a genius. There are certain actors who have the ability to take a line of dialogue and add a ring to it that you didn't even know you put into the dialogue. Just listening to him talk ... you could enjoy him reading the phone book.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Director Jon M. Chu is still fairly committed to the notion that the movie was unceremoniously pulled weeks before its premiere not because there was anything wrong with the movie — as has been very, very widely rumored — but because the creative team needs more time to complete the movie's post-conversion to 3D:
I really want to push how we use the 3-D. Especially since we pushed the movie date, I want to fulfill the promise to the fans that the 3-D will be great, and enhances the experience of the movie. So every step of the way, I'm in that room, watching. It's hurting my eyes, but we're getting it better, and pushing it further... If we had shot it in 3-D, there's a lot of things that we would shot in a 3D way. Fortunately, a lot of our shots, I guess it was in my brain anyway. We had a lot of depth in our shots, or let our shots play longer. For me, if we're going to do this, we have to make sure it enhances the experience. That's where we are right now, and it's a slow painful process, to be honest!

Masters of the Universe
Jon M. Chu also offers this update on his next project, a big-screen adaptation of the He-Man franchise:
We're working on the script, to make it better and stronger. We're designing a bunch of stuff. I learned on Joe that to make it right, you have to do a lot of experimenting first, and you have to trust that during the process you'll find where the tonal line is. It's so delicate. A lot of people ask, who are you going to cast? We're not even there yet, we're just trying to get the character of the movie down. This is one of the most fun parts, where all the possibilities are open, and we're just playing in the sandbox.

Doctor Who
Matt Smith confirms that, while her parents may be gone forever, River Song will eventually return to the show. He also says that he would like his Doctor to take on the Master — provided the Master is played by John Simm. [Bleeding Cool]
For his part, Simm remains open to returning to the show, though he would want to tone down his Master from the barking mad performances he gave in "The Sound of Drums"/"Last of the Time Lords" and "The End of Time" Parts 1 and 2. To wit:
"I'd love to have another take on him, to be a bit quieter. Russell T. Davies had a specific idea of what he wanted him to be like. So I just had to do exactly what he wanted me to, and he wanted a giggling lunatic. There's a new writer now, and I'm sure his take on him would be different so I'd be interested to have a look at it. I'd like to take the Master to a very, very dark place."

The Walking Dead
David Morrissey discusses his new character, the Governor:
He is somebody who has an iron fist and a kid glove and he rules like that. If he needs to come down hard on people he will, but he's also somebody who's not averse to putting his arm around someone to get the best out of them as well.
I think he's a good team person. Woodbury is everything to him when we meet him. It's a really wonderful place. It's a secure place. You can leave your door open, and the kids can go for a run outside, and that, in this world, is unheard of. Security is everything to him. So anybody who threatens that security will be really severely dealt with, and I think in this world, the danger from beyond the walls he's created is very real. How does he differ from the Governor we know from the comics?
He differs massively. I think what happens in the comics is we get to meet the Governor later on in his genesis. He's fully formed, really. He's arrived at this sadistic person. My Governor isn't like that. We see him much earlier on. He's dealing with the problems of leadership, which are trying to keep people fed, and safe, and comfort them, provide things for his people. So he isn't the sadistic man that we see in the comic books. He's somebody who's ruthless and does terrible things, but he does them from a really important place. I think he can justify everything he does.

Torchwood
Series creator Russell T. Davies says that, all appearances to the contrary, the show isn't cancelled. Well, not exactly:
I loved making it over there (in the USA), and I would have carried on if circumstances hadn't brought me back to this country, so it's kind of in limbo for me at the moment. I'm not working on it at the moment, I'm only working on Wizards vs Aliens - when I get back to work one day, I don't know, it'll be old news to the BBC! It's not officially (cancelled), it's in a nice limbo where it can stew - those shows can come back in ten, twenty years time.
