Thank you for making that first point, because it's really, really important. None of the Doctors owe us anything, and it's remarkable how many of them have been willing to reprise the role and represent the show in the intervening years. In particular, it's kind of insane (in the very best of ways) that Paul McGann has become so committed to playing a character that he only ever appeared as once for a failed TV pilot in 1996. But that doesn't mean Christopher Eccleston has to follow suit if he doesn't want to.
