Thor: The Dark World
The hot new rumor is that the movie won't just visit the Earth and Asgard but all nine of the franchise's Norse-inspired realms. Since it's more or less confirmed the sequel focuses on the Dark Elves, their realm Svartalheim was pretty much guaranteed to make an appearance. That still leaves "the Light Elves' realm, Alfeim, the Realm of the dead who are neither honored or dishonered, Hel, the Demon world of Muspelheim, the Dwarven realm, Nidavellir and Asgard's sister-realm, Vanaheim", plus the land of the Frost Giants, Jotunheim, which featured in the first movie. It's a fun thought, and certainly in keeping with the kind of relentless universe expansion that also led Marvel to go ahead with a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but it's probably best to be somewhat skeptical. After all, the rumor is based on a translation a report from a Russian Cinema Expo, which says Marvel is hopeful new director Alan Taylor will be able to use his Game of Thrones experience to bring to life not just Earth and Asgard, but all nine realms. Assuming the translation is accurate, that still sounds like it might be more marketing hyperbole than a literally true plot detail. Either way, it's still probably best to expect a more in-depth view of Thor's part of the Marvel universe — just maybe not every single last one of his realms. [Coming Soon]
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Now that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt has left the project, reportedly due to concerns about the sequel's quick turnaround time, there's a rumored shortlist of possible successors. 20th Century Fox is reportedly considering The Disappearance of Alice Creed director J Blakeson, 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Take Shelter's Jeff Nichols, and Juan Antonio Bayona, who will make his English language debut with the upcoming film The Impossible. There's also a pair of bigger name directors in the hunt: Guillermo del Toro and Looper's Rian Johnson, although representatives of the latter have reportedly already ruled him out of consideration. The favorite in all this, however, is Cloverfield director Matt Reeves, who seems like a decent choice to take over from Wyatt and arguably deserves another shot at big-budget moviemaking after the undeserved failure of Let Me In. The decision will likely be made relatively soon, considering it was reportedly concerns about the movie's abbreviated schedule that led Wyatt to jump ship in the first place. [Deadline]

The Walking Dead
Star Lana Parilla discusses what's ahead for her character the Evil Queen in the second season:
She's called a few different things, which are inappropriate to say. But she's called Regina still. Your Highness. Your Majesty. She's not in a great place, let's say. The curse is broken and the cat's out of the bag. Everyone knows who she is, and they want justice and rightfully so. She is going to have to fight long and hard for a couple of things. One, most importantly, her son, Henry. I think that is pretty much the main focus of this character in the second season at this time. She's lost her son, and that comes with [some] challenges. She's less concerned with the curse being broken right now, as she is with getting her son back, and she realizes that it's something that not many people see. I see it because I play the character, but she's a very hard, a very loyal, committed person and I mean this in the sense that when you think about her love for Daniel, in the first season, she does everything after the point when he dies to get back at Snow White for him. She's really kind of hung up over [it] and [it's] very similar with Henry. Losing Henry, I think if she doesn't get Henry for the next twenty years, she will not stop clawing and fighting for that person. [That's what] I saw in the character in the second season, and [she is] also extremely resilient.

American Horror Story: Asylum
Here's the official description for the second season premiere, which rather encouragingly is written by Firefly and Angel veteran Tim Minear, who has previously written the American Horror Story episodes that most closely resemble actually good television, as opposed to just gloriously deranged lunacy. Anyway, here's the description for the episode, which airs October 17:
Welcome to Briarcliff Manor, a notorious insane asylum home to the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. Lurking in the shadows of this "sanctuary of healing" are terrifying evils that blur the boundaries between reality and insanity.
