Jurassic Park 4

Steven Spielberg's longtime producing partner Kathleen Kennedy offers the latest update on the state of this project, which recently brought in Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver to write the script:

"Writing, writing, writing. It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going. As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise. We've got to start with a script and the story...[The studio] is just like, 'When?!' They don't care about the agony we're going through!"

Frankenstein

Of the approximately twenty Frankenstein adaptations currently in production, this version — which features a science-fiction take on Mary Shelley's story, a script by Chronicle writer Max Landis, and direction from Lucky Number Slevin and Sherlock's Paul McGuigan — is probably the second most promising. (I say second most, because it's kinda hard to top Aaron Eckhart as a centuries-old monster fighting a demonic Bill Nighy in a post-apocalyptic hellscape.) Well, this particularly Frankenstein project might soon be adding Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe to the mix, who reportedly is very interested in continuing his ongoing campaign to never, ever leave the supernatural behind by taking on the starring role in the movie. Specifically, he would play the Hunchback, which presumably is this movie's version of Dr. Frankenstein's assistant. If Radcliffe gets the part, he will called upon to be "pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing", at least if the character description for the Hunchback is any indication. Skyfall

Here's a new TV spot for Daniel Craig's third outing as James Bond.

Wreck-It Ralph

Here's a promo image of the title character in Hero's Duty, a Halo- and Metroid-inspired game that Ralph attempts to join in his quest to be a hero. Here's a few teasers about what to expect, courtesy of MTV Movies Blog:

There's Sergeant Tamor Jean Calhoun, voiced by "Glee"'s Jane Lynch, is a no-nonsense marine, tasked with informing the player how to take down Cy-Bugs, the deadly insect villains of "Hero's Duty." But since every game needs a goal, in "Hero's Duty," there is the Medal of Heroes. Guarded over by the appropriately named General Hologram, the Medal of Heroes rewards any player who has the grit to make it to the top of a 99-story tower.

Also, I really, really hope this is the last time I'll have to type this particular combination of words, but Skrillex will be both appearing in and contributing music to the movie (using the term "music" somewhat loosely). His animated alter ego will be a DJ, and he providing songs (again, loosely defined) for the "Hero's Duty" part of the game. Here's how he describes his contribution, because why not:

"The mood of that game world is high-energy and futuristic. I make music with many different colors of the emotional spectrum-this reflects a more aggressive side of my music."

Doctor Who

Here's a sneak peek at tomorrow's episode, "The Angels Take Manhattan", which sees the return of River Song and the Weeping Angels and the departure of Rory and Amy — not to mention it's the last new Doctor Who we get until Christmas. So, savor this one, basically.

Fringe

Showrunner Joel Wyman discusses the various characters' journeys in the fifth and final season, which kicks off tonight:

No love story worth telling is easy. It's the hills and the valleys that make a relationship, in my opinion, really dynamic and worth watching. The harder the till, the more worthy the payoff. Everything that came [in] the four years before, I'm really trying to give the characters specific odysseys this year that are singular — meaning for each character — but also relationship dynamic odysseys where things are growing and shifting and shaping. Peter and Olivia are going to be a big part of that. Their relationship will shift and grow and evolve. I think it's safe to say that we'll be there every step of the way and everything will be logical. One of the things we get to do this year that I thought was great for telling authentic real emotional stories is that the 13 episodes, I'm treating them as a saga, as a 13-episode feature film. You'll get to track their emotional growth pattern and their relationship very carefully. We're really going to get under the hood and investigate those relationships."

There's a lot more at the link, including some insight on just when the creative team decided the Observers were actually world conquerors. [Comic Book Resources]

Game of Thrones

Once Upon A Time

The Vampire Diaries

Here's the description for the second episode of season four, "Memorial", which airs October 18:

A NEW DANGER COMES TO TOWN - Elena (Nina Dobrev) tries to cope with the extreme highs and lows that are part of becoming a vampire, and Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) almost come to blows while arguing about what is best for her. Damon decides to help Elena in his own way and asks her not to tell Stefan. A stranger, Connor Jordan (guest star Todd Williams, "Chicago Code"), arrives in town and begins questioning Sheriff Forbes and Mayor Lockwood. Connor's actions quickly convince Stefan that they are dealing with a dangerous vampire hunter. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Matt (Zach Roerig) are surprised to see a girl they used to know, April, (guest star Grace Phipps, "The Nine Lives of Chloe King"), has returned to town and is enrolling at Mystic Falls High. At a town gathering, Elena comes close to losing control until Caroline steps in to help her. Finally, Damon confides his feelings to an unexpected friend.

Arrow

Here's the description for the second episode, "Honor Thy Father", which airs October 17:

KELLY HU GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS VILLAIN CHINA WHITE - Oliver (Stephen Amell) heads to the courthouse to get his death certificate repealed and is pleasantly surprised to run into Laurel (Katie Cassidy), who is there prosecuting Martin Somers (guest star Ty Olsson), a criminal with ties to the Chinese Triad. Oliver recognizes Martin's name from his father's book and sets his sights on taking him down. Martin orders the Triad to "take care of" Laurel so they send their top mercenary – China White (Hu) – after her, an act that culminates in a battle between Arrow and China White. Meanwhile, Moira (Susanna Thompson) and Walter (guest star Colin Salmon) ask Oliver to take over the company.
